Nov., 2011 – A workshop meeting was held with a number of Swedish Universities where the EECS SME partner, Mecenat gave a presentation about the EECS project. Mecenat provided an update on the EECS prototype, progress and the future plans.

Nov., 2011 - OPTeam is the SME that is leading the further development of the SCM module. This is a key part of the EECS solution which allows for the mobility of students by providing standards for the secure transmission of students details to host universities.

Pilot Demonstration Sites

Sep 2011 - The SMEs recognise that they need to improve the concept of the standardised interoperable campus card system (EECS) and therefore the SMEs are implementing a plan to bridge the gap between the research and the commercialisation of the product. It has been agreed that the system will be installed and set-up as a pilot demonstration at a number of sites. The first site which agreed to participate in the trials is the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). The University of Rzeszow have also agreed to a pilot demonstration at their Institution.

EECS Project has now concluded

The EECS project has heralded a major advance in campus card technology by developing the prototype for a secure, standardised, interoperable campus card system. This concept will assist academic mobility by facilitating the electronic transmission of student data between educational institutions, by providing a standardised interface between the campus card system and other facilities such as library, access control, time and attendance etc.
The European Education Connectivity Solution (EECS) Project is now in final month of completion

The European Education Connectivity Solution (EECS) is now in its final month of the project. Currently the consortium is working on completing WP5 Validation and Trials and also WP6 Training, Knowledge Management and Dissemination. The project is on time and on course and a full working prototype of the EECS project will be developed by May 31st 2011.

WP5 Trial Results

To meet the requirement of WP5 of the European Education Connectivity Solution (EECS) project it was necessary to carry out trials between two HE institutions in Europe. This involved students from Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Ireland and the Technical University of Lodz (TUL), Poland, two members of the consortium, becoming trial exchange students.
